Strategic and sustainability-oriented initiatives stall because the interplay of human action, goals, rules, and information is more complex than anticipated.

For more than 15 years, I have worked with decision-makers who carry responsibility for strategy and sustainability. People with the will, the mandate, and the budget to act. Often their work is pulled across too many fronts competing for attention. That clouds the view of the signals showing where and how their efforts will actually take effect.

What I bring to these situations is the craft to develop a causal compass together: a compass that makes the cause-and-effect relationships visible and shows where effective action begins. Concretely, we map the connections in a causal loop diagram and, where it makes sense, build a decision simulator, a dynamic digital twin of your situation, in which measures can be played out before they are put into practice. The result is structured clarity in the face of complex challenges; the confidence to say: these are the essential points, and these are the decisive reasons.

My work began in international development cooperation in Laos and has since spanned quality management, project management, and sustainability management in a European context. I hold degrees in Sustainability Management (MBA) and Business Administration (B.A.), along with a state-certified qualification in marketing and commu-nication. Today I work in Germany and the EU.

For just as long, I have trained my own capacity to observe and listen clearly: through a daily meditation practice and methods such as Theory U. This lets me see systems differently than I ever could through intellectual and methodological development alone.

Where this comes from.

Further, together.

Causal Compass is my contribution to a different kind of leadership; shared rather than solitary; far-sighted, and oriented toward the deeper causes that move us. Every engagement takes shape through exchange; with the people inside the organization who hold the knowledge, with the questions the system itself surfaces, and increasingly with AI as a thinking partner in the analytical process.

Depending on the complexity and scope of a project, I draw on a network of specialists in system dynamics, sustainability science, facilitation, and related fields. Where relevant, their involvement is discussed openly from the start.

If that is the kind of thinking your work calls for, I would be glad to be useful.
